Book Lending Locker at Tallinn University Academic Library

In April 2020 Tallinn University Academic Library opened self-service book lending locker called “Raamatutark (Bookwise)”. A need to place a self-service locker resulted from the declaration of Emergency Situation in Estonia, as the Library started to find a new solution for serving their customers.

Hansab installed the locker, which is accessible for 24 hours a day. Customers can order books through the e-catalogue ESTER (www.ester.ee) by choosing AL TLU Smart Locker as the pickup location. When requested books are put in the smart locker, the customer will receive an e-mail and can then pick up the books from the locker. In order to get books from the locker, the customer simply scans the library card or enters ID card and follows the instructions on the screen. When the customer opens the locker, an automatic e-mail will be sent about the due dates of the books. Requested books will be kept in the Smart Locker for 5 days.
